NYC PARKS DEPARTMENT
PORT RICHMOND, STATEN ISLAND, NY
This $4.5 million project is a part of NYC’s Parks Without Borders program and it redevelops a 1.4 acre area of this community park. With roles as both Project Manager and Project Designer, I worked on this project from the initial public meeting and scope development through concept development and 100% Construction Documents. The project scope included softening the public edge, creating inviting gateways, gathering space in a plaza and multipurpose amphitheater, a playground and a spray play water feature. The creation of bioretention areas to mitigate any stormwater runoff from the site was a key challenge in this area with poor urban soils.
